Awards given out by the USBC during the 2005-2006 bowling season:
    56,212 - 300 games = 1081/week
    23,027 - 299 games = 443/week
    9,526 - 298 games = 183/week
    17,612 - 800 series = 338/week
    That's an average of 2045 awards/week.
Remembering that even if one person shoots 10 - 300's in one season, they would still only get 1 award.

Where have the good times gone?

I just finished watching Mark Roth defeat Earl Anthony in the 1981 Showboat and then Earl defeat Mark at the 1981 Firestone (you can see them on YouTube). Incredible to think back then if you hooked the ball 10 boards, you were considered one of the biggest crankers in the game, like Mark did. Earl never missed the pocket and was always steady at the line, like a machine. Ahhhhh, the good ole days before synthetic lanes, resin balls, exotic weight blocks, 'walled' house shots, etc etc. Well, on to watch more of those days. Oh, if you get the chance, watch Andy Varipapa and his trick shots. Though, I have to admit, that was way before my time. But, my friend used to bowl on the same league with him and his grandson in Long Island, NY.

Ya i used to have a plastic spare ball but i got rid of it because it was too light. I'm hoping by either the end of this week or next to have a new one. I need it, my 10 pin percentages have dropped. i used to hit 9 outa 10 everytime.
